It’s a New Year! What does this mean for those who live in the wonderful state of Florida? The snowbirds are coming, the snowbirds are coming, and many are already here! This time of year, facilities begin to fill up, beds become scarce, and the next thing you know… you have a patient waiting to go home (or relocate).

Although it may not feel like it quite yet, Fall is just around the corner! The snowbirds are going to begin thinking about their journey south to escape the frigid temperatures that winter brings. With this, comes busier times for all of those in the healthcare field!

What is an Indigent Patient Transport Program? Air Trek’s Indigent Patient Transport Program (IPTP) is a free program designed to provide your facility with an option for the transport of your unfunded patients. Similar to the commercial airlines’ frequent-flyer programs, this allows your facility to earn mileage credits for every flight completed.

A question we are asked more times than not is: “How much notice do you need for a flight?” To put it simply… we appreciate having 24 hours notice in order to allow us and you time to get everything in order. However, many times we are able to get a flight out in about 2-3 hours!

Air Trek’s Commercial Airline Medical Escort Program is developed to meet international and long distance transportation needs of your stable patients who do not require specialized air ambulance services. This program provides aero-medically trained medical personnel to accompany and care for the patient aboard a commercial airline.

Air Trek spends many months of the year transporting those who fall ill during their winter journey south back to their northern homes. However, there are many cases in which we bring northern clients south to either be with loved ones, or to move them to a different level of care.
